Sexuality is vital to our lives and a source of pleasure and intimacy. Our sexuality and sexual expression is diverse and personal for us as individuals and in our relationships, yet, sex and intimacy can be undermined by compulsive seeking, observing, or engaging in sexual activity and in the extremes that some people go to satisfy fantasies, manage uncomfortable feelings, or to act out impulses.

Typically, those struggling with compulsive issues around sex, spend significant amounts of time immersed in thinking, planning, and spending money on fantasies and activities including pornography, prostitution, masturbation, online hook-ups, and voyeurism/exhibitionism resulting in a considerable toll on their social, familial, and occupational functioning.
